Piazza Bra is the biggest square of Verona, situated in its historic center, directly outside the Arena. The square is able to combine a singular and enlightened scene of the buildings belonging to different epochs and architecture. The most popular and admired, besides the Arena, are the Barbieri and Gran Guardia buildings.
A particular part of the square called the Liston, is fascinating in its originality, thanks to the noble building around it and the pavement built with the typical pink marble from Valpolicella, the same material used to build the Roman amphitheater.
For these reasons Piazza Bra has become with time one of the main meeting places in the center of Verona, where citizens and tourists stop to enjoy a coffee or an aperitif.
During the winter the square offers an enchanting scenario, thanks to the installation of an enormous wandering star that issues from the Arena, on the occasion of the celebrations for St. Lucy, when numerous stalls are set up with sweets, toys and handicrafts.
