Arena di Verona
The magic exhuding from the Verona Arena has not changed in over 2,000 years. It is, in fact, the amphitheatre built during the age of the domination of the Roman Empire. Today it is an icon of the city, along with the figures of Romeo and Juliet.
One experiences a fantastic sensation upon approaching the site in silence and imagining the throngs that filled it in the times of the ancient Romans, and you can just close your eyes or enter into the giddy atmosphere the opera and shows are able to create.
After his journey in Italy, Goethe nostalgically recounted that it was a pleasure to stroll “along the crater edge of the amphitheatre during the sunset, and enjoy the beautiful panorama of the city and its surroundings".
The Arena today is the symbol of the city and a "must" for visitors from all over the world. The emotion one gets from the Opera Festival held every summer takes place in this marvelous setting.
